Wright Distributing Company, Inc. was founded in 1948 by Louis and Virginia Wright; so, in 2008 Wright celebrates sixty years in the wholesale beverage distribution business. Wright operates out of three warehouses and services thirteen counties in Central Texas.

Wright employees 145 people at the three locations, pays over a million dollars in taxes and infuses millions of dollars back into the economy through employee salaries. In 2006 Wright sold approximately 2.9 million 24/12 case equivalents from various suppliers starting with Miller Brewing Company and including multiple imports such as Heineken and craft beers such as Leinenkugel’s. The product portfolio also includes Ozarka water, a cleansing drink called Resurrect, wine coolers, energy drinks, and specialty soda drinks.

When Louis Wright started the Company sixty years ago in Bastrop County, the only product was Jax Beer bought from Jackson Brewing Company in New Orleans, Louisiana. Louis would drive to New Orleans, buy a load of beer, drive it back to Bastrop, sell it, and return for another load. Over the years Wright purchased new territorial distribution rights and contracted with more suppliers to grow the business into the viable entity that it is today.

Wright’s main supplier is Miller Brewing Company, and Wright has been recognized by Miller as one of the most outstanding wholesale beer distributors in the nation on many occasions. The most recent recognition bestowed on Wright was the Miller High Life Achievement Award presented in April 2007. The High Life Achievement Award was given to those with superior sales performance within each brand segment, display execution for mainstream and economy brands and progress against seven key performance indicators set by Miller Brewing Company.

President Jane Wright and Vice President Sandy Wright Kibby, daughters of Louis and Virginia, are involved in the management of the Company, along with General Manager Tom Clayton and Vice President Clay Kibby. “With Miller Lite as our flagship brand and a varied portfolio full of wonderful products, we look forward to sixty more years in business,” said President Wright.
